Hatred and resentment can alchemically be transformed into political violence. Simmer enmity on a low flame until it boils over, add a dash of tear gas and a dollop of desperation, throw in a bloody shirt, turn the heat all the way up and serve
ICE cold.

But it tastes soooo good going down, doesn’t it?
I submit that we are in an active, low-level civil war now. One side is calling for the killing of the other. Information is too distorted to reconcile opposing positions on issues that underlie hostility. The polity no longer sees itself as a unity but distinct and antagonistic self-interested groups. External money sources are funding the escalation of rhetoric, organization, and now, weaponry. One can see videos of individuals expressing a willingness to die and to kill for the cause. These are combatants. This is not your great-great grandpappy's civil war. It will be red vs blue states, not North vs South. It may be more subtle... quieter... but just as destructive.
